Regular Admission is granted to anyone
who meets ONE of the following:

Graduate of a regionally accredited high school as defined by the United States Office of Education or any appropriate state educational agency

Underage students seeking admissions to the college as their primary institution must complete the following:

No person under age 18 shall be denied admission because of age, lack of a high school diploma or high school certificate of equivalency, grade in school, lack of permission of school officials or lack of concurrent enrollment in a public or private school if the student meets one of the following test scores:

•PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test-taken March 2016 or later) composite score of 720 or above
•SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test-taken March 2016 or later) composite (Evidence-Based Reading & Writing and Math Portions combined) score of 720 or above
•ACT (American College Test) composite score of 12 or above

Residency Status and Guidelines

Students are classified for tuition purposes under one of the following classifications:

•Resident, in-state
•Non-resident (includes out-of-state, F-1 non-immigrant students and students without legal immigration status)


Resident Status will be assigned to under the following conditions:

•Students who are U.S. citizens
•Dependent students living in Arizona for less than one year, but reside with their parents or legal guardians who have established domicile in Arizona for one year and claim the student as an exemption for state and federal tax purposes
•Financially independent students who have resided in Arizona for more than one year prior to the start of the semester in which they are enrolling and have established Arizona as their permanent domicile
•Students who have transferred to Arizona by their employer for employment purposes
•Students or spouses who are members of the armed forces of the United States, stationed in Arizona pursuant to military orders
•Students who are members of Native American tribes whose reservation lands lie in Arizona and extend into another state and who are residents of that reservation


Non- Resident Status will be assigned under the following conditions:

•Students who are claimed as exemptions by parents or legal guardians for federal or state income tax purposes and the parent or guardians are residents of a state other than Arizona
•Most persons who have lived in Arizona less than one calendar year
•Students who have not established Arizona as their permanent domicile after moving to Arizona
•Winter visitors who have not established Arizona as their permanent domicile, even if here for more than one year, are still considered out-of-state
•Students who are not U.S. Citizens


Implementation of Guidelines

  • ·Each student applicant shall have the question of legal residence determined prior to the time of registration and payment of fees. It is the responsibility of the applicant to register under the correct resident determination.
  • ·Enforcement of residency requirements shall be the responsibility of the President of Central Arizona College. The President has designated the Admissions and Records Office to make the initial domicile classification. In determining a student’s classification, the college may consider all evidence, written or oral, presented by the student and any other information received from any source which is relevant to determining classification. The college may request written sworn statements or sworn testimony of the student.
  • ·A request for a review of the initial classification may be made to the Dean of Academic Services. The request must be in writing, signed by the student and accompanied by a sworn statement of all facts relative to the matter. The request must be filed within 10 days of receipt of notification of classification as a non-resident. Failure to file properly a request for review within the prescribed time limit constitutes a waiver of review for the current enrollment period. The decision of the Dean of Academic Services shall be final.

When a student’s residency is questioned or student requests to have their residency status reviewed, the following proof will be required:

Complete domicile affidavit and file with the Records and Registration Office
Submit evidence of one of the following:

•Arizona Driver’s License
•Arizona Income Tax Return
•Arizona Voter Registration

The following items may be submitted as supporting information to the evidence listed above, but will not be accepted as primary evidence:

•Source of Financial Support
•Notarized Statement from Employer
•Place of High School Graduation
•Bank Accounts
•Honorably discharged from the armed forces and demonstrates evidence of intent to be a resident of Arizona

Western Undergraduate Education Program

Students from 15 Western states are eligible to participate in the Western Undergraduate Education Program (W.U.E.). The program allows full-time students who are seeking degrees or certificates to pay 150 percent resident tuition, rather than out-of-state tuition. Central Arizona College participates in the program along with other colleges and universities in Arizona, Alaska, California, Colorado, Common Wealth of the Northern Marianas Islands, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

New Mexico Resident Tuition Waiver Program

Central Arizona College and Western New Mexico University in Silver City have established a tuition waiver agreement, which is subject to renewal. A New Mexico resident who attends CAC may qualify to be assessed in-state tuition. There is a limited number of waivers available. Contact the Admissions Office for an application form or additional information.

Out-of-County Residence Affidavit

An Arizona resident attending classes in Pinal County from Apache, Gila, Greenlee or Santa Cruz counties must submit a completed Out-of-County Residence Affidavit every semester.

Repeating

Students may repeat courses to improve grades or update knowledge of course material.  A course may be counted once for graduation; unless otherwise stated in the College Catalog.

When a course is repeated or is taken beyond the number of allowable repeats, credits for those courses will not be applied toward degree/certificate requirements and may not be funded through financial aid.  All grades earned will be posted to students’ transcripts, however, only the highest grade will be calculated in the GPA.


Auditing

Students may audit a class by indicating so on the Registration Form.  Auditing a course requires that a student register and pay tuition/fees just as a student registering for course credit.  No changes in status from credit to audit or vice versa is permitted after initial course registration.


Withdrawing from Courses and College

WITHDRAWAL TIMELINE:
5-week course: Withdrawal by Thursday of 3rd week
8-week course: Withdrawal by Thursday of 5th week
10-week course: Withdrawal by Thursday of 6th week
16-week course: Withdrawal by Thursday of 10th week
Non-Standard Length Course: Prior to the first day of class

Regular/Short Term Courses: Students can request an official withdrawal during the first two-thirds of the class based on the beginning and end date as listed in the schedule of classes. During this period a student may withdraw regardless of the reason and must initiate and complete the withdrawal request through the registration office. Instructor permission is not needed. During the final one-third of the course, if there are extenuating circumstances, a student can request an official withdrawal. The approval of both the instructor and division chair or program director will be required.

Open Entry/Open Exit Courses: Students can request an official withdrawal based two-thirds of the days between the date of the registration and the last day of the semester. During this period a student may withdraw regardless of the reason and must initiate and complete the withdrawal request through the registration office. Instructor permission is not needed. During the final one-third of the course, if there are extenuating circumstances, a student can request an official withdrawal. The approval of both the instructor and division chair or program director will be required.

Administrative Withdrawal: The college reserves the right to withdraw students from classes at any time during the semester.

Printable Programs Graduation Program 2021

Photo Op Locations – Central Arizona College has natural landscape areas that provide beautiful photo opportunities. To see a preview of these locations, Photo Op.

Please Note:   

  • The Virtual Graduation Ceremony will include potential graduate students from May 2021 and August 2021.
  • The Virtual Graduation Ceremony will not be interactive.
  • Students that completed and are eligible to participate will receive notification via their student email.
  • Cap and gowns are not needed for the virtual ceremony. However, are available for purchase through the CAC bookstore. For additional information, please call 520-494-5440.
  • All students will receive a commemorative program with their printed degree/certificate at the time of mailing (approximately 10-12 weeks after completion).
  • While ceremonies will take place in May, all degree and certificate completions are processed according to the standard completion cycles and available for transcript requests and student portal viewing prior to the mailing of the actual degree/certificate.

♦MUST file the Application for Graduation with the Records Office at grad.application@centralaz.edu
♦Recommended that Applications for Graduation be submitted at least one semester prior to the anticipated graduation date.

Application Deadline Information:
All applications are evaluated on a first in-first out basis; however, students that apply by the Priority Deadline are guaranteed to receive their evaluation prior to the next semester in order to register for required classes in order to complete by their anticipated finishing semester. Students that apply after the Priority Deadline will still receive their evaluation for the semester indicated on the application. All applications must be received prior to the semester end date to be considered for that graduation date.

It is important to communicate any questions/concerns immediately to the evaluator listed on your evaluation letter.

Important Notes:

•Graduation cycles are May, August and December of each year
•Duplicate diplomas and/or certificates can be requested for a duplication charge. These will be stamped “Duplicate” on the back.
•In-Person Commencement is held each May for students that complete during the August, December and May graduation cycle. Students that are eligible for graduation will receive notification of ceremony participation approximately 5-6 weeks prior to the May Commencement.
•Diplomas are printed by an outside agency and should be received 10-12 weeks after degree completion.
•Degree information is posted on your transcripts. Unofficial transcripts can be found on your Student Portal.

Official Transcript Service Policy:

•Official transcripts are $10.00 each. Fees must be paid prior to the release of transcripts
•Transcripts will not be issued if any obligations are due to Central Arizona College
•All requests must bear the student’s signature (in accordance with FERPA).
•Official transcripts cannot be faxed, as they must bear a secure seal from the Office of the Register

♦ Requests must be made online (preferred) or by completing the Transcript Request Form, requests are not accepted by telephone or email. In compliance with federal law, records are released only with the written consent of the student. No other person (including parent or spouse) may authorize the release of student records. Out-going transcript requests are processed from the Signal Peak Campus.

Grade Change/Appeal Process

Grade Change/Appeal regulations are published in their entirety under Grade Change/Appeal in the CAC College Catalog.
