College for Kids Summer Program at Aravaipa Campus 2017
College for Kids 2017, “Earth Science” had another successful year. This program provides 2nd through 6th graders from the surrounding communities with an opportunity to explore various subjects in a hands-on way. Kids in 7th grade or higher are encouraged to be group leaders, who will earn community service credits.
Our presenters were Mike Conway from Arizona Geological Survey, his presentation was about Arizona Volcanoes. Luise King former Biology Instructor for CAC taught the students about solar panels and the need to provide power to various electronics.
On July 13th the group traveled to the University of Arizona to visit the Flandrau Planetarium & Mineral Museum. The students were amazed with the fascinating world class collection of minerals and gems from all over the world.
The students were from the following areas, Mammoth, San Manuel, Oracle, Aravaipa, Winkelman, Hayden, Kearny and Superior. Oracle Middle School and Ray’s School District provided the bussing.
We are ever so grateful to all of our donors who made this college experience possible to the students of Eastern Pinal County.
