Achieving The Dream: Equity In Action
What is Guided Pathways?
This is a national movement redesigning the way community colleges provide educational opportunities to their learners. The Pathways model is an integrated, institution-wide effort based on research that shows students are more likely to complete a degree closer to a two-year time period if they choose a program and develop an academic plan. Additionally, Pathways provides a clear road map of sequenced courses that lead to a specific degree or certificate. We want to be as clear, coherent and transparent about what is needed for each program of study or transfer pathway while providing inspiring and relevant courses.
With the Guided Pathways model, students are supported throughout their educational journey. This should have been the case all along, but we know that sometimes our well-intentioned processes, systems, traditions, and habits interfere with our goals. CAC staff, faculty, and even students have been strategically examining, redesigning, and transforming the college’s programs and services to help students identify and reach their goals. We will provide an easy registration process, access to effective academic and financial aid advising, and other services that ensure student success.
